An agricultural school was established in Oxford and no one would attend. You felt too inferior to the "snobs" at Ole Miss. After a few years, it was shut down and kicked out of Oxford and the state legislature started the school again in Starkville.
Quiet familiar with this story as well except you're exaggerating a good bit. Using terms like banished to Starkville or we felt too inferior. You are partially right though about an Ag school being founded in Oxford. But I'll just sit back and wait for your version b/c it sounds like it will be more entertaining than how events unfolded.
Another note about the riots. You can ask a lot of old timers, oxford was the battleground. Many people from all over MS went to oxford that evening. even students from Starkville. But personally I hate the race baiting threads between ole miss and state posters. I'd rather look forward.

I agree. And I really have no animosity toward State. It's a fine institution. I have many family members that graduated from there.
