The problem is it's hard to quantify. SOS only matters for high quality opponents. If you're a top 10 team, it doesn't matter if you played #35 or #110, the result and difficulty is the same. I would agree that maybe SOS against top 25-30 opponents only would be a good thing to put more weight behind. But as far as SEC teams, nobody cares if you played Texas or Tulane, the relative strength of opponent is the same.
