perhaps they changed their tune. but yeah they definitely said initially it was on alternate, and it was not.

Not for directv customers at least (unless its just me).

I did watched the first 5 min or so of the OM/A&M game on the alternate channel before switching over to ESPN.

However, I don't have Directv (Comcast). I'm in Houston,TX so, It could also be a regional thing.
