Yeah that's where I would peg y'all at is 5-1 with a loss to OU. If I'm not mistaken, y'all return every starter on offense sans Worley next year, including two-deep on the line and receivers, right?
I'd peg us as at 5-1 and no worse than 4-2 (not being a homer, for realz). However, our oline situation is simply crippling and has effected every single aspect of the offense.
We only have 6 seniors total in the two-deep.
On offense only Worley and Lane matter. However, Marlin Lane has been a career backup at RB and while we'd hoped he breakout this year, he always looked fast coming off the bench, he's been very unimpressive this year and lost the starting job to Hurd. While Hurd is def. more talented and earned it they started out on with near equal reps and Marlin never could do anything. He's banged up for sure but he just doesn't look like he'll live up to expectations. WR Jacob Carter is also in the two deep (well was but he was simply not that good and I doubt he'd have stayed there). Carter's situation is honorary - he's a senior and a helluva hard worker but not 2 deep matterial (12 catches in 4 years, never once started).
Sad, really.
On defense:
-- *A. J. Johnson is the one that will be hard to replace.
--Jordan Williams who had to bulk up to play DT this offseason is having a surprisingly good year despite being undersized. Even so, we have monsters coming in at DT. Still, he's proven really valuable this season.
--Justin Coleman has played corner for much of his career but has been too slow. He's finally found a home at nickel and has excelled there. His experience will be missed but the youngsters have more talent.
