Really? This is one of the great things about the SECRant. I beg you not to take this away.
Bump threads are quality entertainment and usually justify great discussion.

So why the bookmark function if you can't bump threads?

I was looking forward to all the bumped threads with me telling MST they sucked. I had the sadz when I didn't see any.

Does anyone know what "old" is? Some time ago there was an issue regarding a President and what the meaning of "is" is.
Does the purpose for which the thread is bumped make any difference? There are the "nanny nanny boo boo" bumps and then bumps for threads for which further discussion is relevant because something new has happened which could add to some lively discussion.
I suppose a purpose of the rule might be to keep the boards from getting too cluttered but since about 90% of the threads on tRant are unnecessary anyway I don't know what the rule truly accomplishes. Higher quality threads? Fewer jimmies rustled?
Finally, it could be said that the substance of the thread bump is at least as equally compelling as the drivel which prompted the thread in the first place.

It really is one of the weaker things I've seen from the Admins. Bumping threads is part of what makes this site better during the season.

How old does a thread have to be to be consider it a "bump?"
