Holtz is just ignoring the schedules coming up with something stupid like that.

There really is a pretty clear shakeout so far:

1. SEC champ
2. FSU/ND winner
3. Baylor/Oklahoma winner
4. Oregon or Michigan State (presuming one or both win their conferences with no more losses)

I don't see the SEC getting 2 teams in after reading that mock session SI printed simulating the 2008 season, in which they managed to conclude a 1 loss Alabama team that lost a real close SEC championship game to #2 Florida was no better the the 7th or 8th team in their playoff model. It was stunning to read how they felt the process would go.

It's clear there is going to be strong bias for conference champs and ignore the meat grinder schedule the SEC plays. The only way we get 2 teams is A Baylor loss (to OU, WV, KSU, or OSU). or a combination of OU, Oregon, and MSU all to drop a 2nd game which is possible, but unlikely for all 3 to go down.

SEC is going to need a lot of help to get a second team in. The two things most in second place SEC's way is Notre Dame and Michigan State. There's very little chance Mich State drops a game.

Even less chance FSU drops a game, and it is very hard for me to see 11-1 Notre Dame, whose only loss at the end is to @ undefeated FSU. Big12 and Pacific could both very easily fail to provide a clear choice over second place SEC, but yeah, MichSt and Notre Dame. Notre Dame doesn't look impressive but their schedule will compare favorably with anyone. Hopefully they drop a game to USC or ArizST and fall out of the picture.
