McCarron was also asked about the distribution of Blake Sims' passes and if he thought Amari Cooper was targeted too often. McCarron said he thought the Tide should be spreading the ball more.
"I don't know if that's Lane doing that or if coach Saban is kind of putting the handcuffs on Lane like I've known Coach to do in the past on his offensive coordinator and we're going to be very bland and run this play and do this and we'll throw it on third down if we have to," McCarron told the Tide 99.1 audience. "It's going to be interesting to see how they bounce back against Arkansas this week and what kind of offense comes out this week."
He has some other things to say. Read more here
Interesting hearing a former Bama qb talk about Saban handcuffing the offense.
If you look at all of the teams that have beat us, they all took risks and played loose. Why do we think that playing a tight, predictable game is the way to beat a good defense?

If that is true, then Nick Saban has nobody else to blame except for himself. What a stubborn way to coach football.
Having said that, AJ needs to shut up.

In my opinion this bland shite would have won the game. Don't give up on the run, make simple throws, and hold on to the ball.

That handcuffed offense made AJ appear better then he actually was. Maybe he should add sine cuffs to the chest tat.

This bothers me, I don't think he needed to say it.
I do think it's true but I don't think he should have just thrown it out there like that.

No problem with the coach criticism from a former player. Does bother me a bit saying there are no leaders on offense, not being there. Then again, he knows most of them there and may be that he knows this will motivate the ones he knows has that capability. In the end, I think most don't want it being in the papers, because it will provide a lot of message board fodder for opposing fans.

AJ calling it like he sees it....and pretty much knows from experience what coaches (Saban) want during games as it relates to play calling.

The "leaders" comment is pretty rich. If only we had aj back to "lead" the offense to another blowout against OU
The offense went from being the toast of college football to having everyone line up to run their mouths off in two weeks. frickin' A.

Heck, the way I see it, we didn't run the ball enough. The Ole Miss D dropped back in a zone on almost every pass play and Sims was having a hard time finding the open guy.
Besides the two turnovers and the holding call, the two biggest plays were 2nd and 4 or 5 in Ole Miss territory where we decided to pass instead of pounding it to get a 3rd and short, at worst. Both were incomplete and then 3rd down was incomplete.
Yeldon was having his best game of the season. He needed more touches.

Saban said on the "Hey Coach" show that he has never handcuffed an OC before. And if you believe that i have some ocean front property in Tennessee to sell you.
