What are the chances that Derrick Mason is only at Vandy for one season?

Derek not Derrick, Derrick is the Ravens guy

As to Derek Mason
0%

My main knock on Mason was his lack of southern exposure and this is still my concern. Several times on the Rant my questioning of Stanford failing to play any SEC teams in ages was a point of contention (see below) and it was a concern with the new coach. Like Notre Dame was supposed to have an SEC like defense and everybody outside the SEC accepted it until Alabama showed the Irish what a real SEC defense actually is. The past few years we have heard the same about Stanford and I was not sold this time either.

Do I think he should get canned for this after 1 year, the answer is no. However, if year 3 does not show better defensive play @ Vanderbilt then the seat should be getting toasty and I might not be so inclined to keep him. The point is, it takes time to get used to the SEC but in the end you have to win or at least look competitive to stay employed in it. As to the question of going to a smaller college for the next coach, my answer is about 80% no and that probably approaches 100% by the end of year 3.
