My Dad saw Herschel play live in every home game and many away games throughout his career. he stands by the assertion that Todd is as good if not a better athlete/back than Herschel. Difference is the level of competition (greater now than it was back then) and playcalling (we try to be balanced whereas Herschel - and RBs like him - amassed stupid numbers because they represented the whole offensive playbook).

It's a great argument. I saw Herschel in person in many games. I also just watched the sec storied on him last week. He ran over people even when they knew he was getting the ball 30 plus times a game. Gurley has more offense around him but is also playing against better competition. I say they are both the best for their time.

Yea that's the big thing that stands out to me as well

And just the fact that people are legitimately discussing it as being even in the realm of possibility tells you what type of player Gurley is.
