Why wait until a road game against AU to give a true freshmen his first start?

Wouldn't it have better to start him last week? Or let Jennings start one more week, even if they split first team reps in practice with the intent of bringing Harris off the bench?
Sure seems like Miles is putting a lot of pressure on this kid. Auburn's defense isn't as good as it was last year, but it's better than anything LSU has seen so far. And it's on the road.
Edit: Keep piling on if you like, Auburn. I won't edit my original post, because I should have to suffer the indignity of being so horribly wrong about your defense. I will note, however, that I have admitted my obvious error. I was very surprised by how bad your defensive numbers last year were. Mea Culpa.

less pressure than putting him in down 21

Our defense isn't as good as it was last year based on what?
It's not like it was so awesome last year, and that unit has exceeded expectations this year considering how many key players have missed time.

We have one of the best rushing D's in the country. And I think T Reed is tied with LSU's D in Ints. Might want to edit the OP

Backs are against the wall. Plain and simple. If we want to salvage some of this season then it starts in Jordan-Hare on Saturday. May not win but the kid will get a great experience playing in an opposing stadium.

Uh I think our defense is significantly better honestly. We have a pretty stout run defense

What planet have you been living on? Miles hasn't started him till now due to not wanting to put any pressure on this kid.... But when your starting QB turns the ball over three times vs NM State and then Harris comes off the bench to lead our O on 7 straight td drives???? Not to mention the remarkable come back Harris almost pulled off vs State, where once again our starter looked awful. Miles waited as long as he could to start him.... Which eventually got boos from the crowd last Sat. He knew he had no choice to pull the trigger after what happened the last two games. He gives us the best chance to win... Period.

97% of LSU fans agree. I guess miles just wanted to see if jennings could execute. he could not and he gave him every chance to do so.
3 QB t/o's in one single quarter.

Because Les cares about his players and wanted to give AJ another chance.

This didn't go like you expected, did it Gomer? Instead of getting LSU fans upset the Aubs turned on you.

I don't know, maybe because Jennings led LSU to 3 offensive points against MSU and turned the ball over 3 times in 1 quarter against NMST.
At this point, I think Miles trusts Harris with the ball more then Jennings.

Well, lets look at each game to see why Harris didn't start:
Wisconsin - It was pretty obvious in this game that Jennings was the better choice at this point. He played well in the second half, and Harris looked lost.
Sam Houston St - Jennings played well in the second half against Wisconsin. Jennings played decent against SHS. Harris looked good in mopup duty.
ULM - LSU ran the most vanilla offense ever. Harris didn't play a ton or throw a ton.
Miss St - Jennings didn't play well, but wasn't our biggest issue. Harris looked great at the end of the game.
New Mexico St - Starting Harris would have ruined Jennings psyche. The plan was to get both a lot of playing time. Unfortunately, the booing and poor play of Jennings may have ruined his psyche.
It is pretty easy to see why Harris hasn't started. Any other questions?

Don't get paid to analyze, prepare, or coach football teams - never have, never will. Probably makes me like 99.9% of all TD posters.
That said, anyone who watched(es) Harris' post-NMST game interview will see that the guy has that 'je ne sais quois' that is so critical to be effective at any leadership position - maybe it's charisma, dunno.
I do not see Harris offering up a weak performance.
