Thanks for your thought out response. I can see why some think our traditions are "weird, cultish, silly, etc;" But I don't understand your claim of "manufactured." It's not as though we were sitting around thinking, "hey we need some tradition around here, let's find something to do." On the contrary, I believe you've pointed out why they mean so much to us, because they conserve what sets us apart.

I'm sure every school has had some guys/gals who for some serendipitous reason came up with something special to them, but along the way it was dropped for whatever reason; I find that sad. They succumbed to people telling them their tradition is weird/gay/whatever and appeased their peers instead of keeping what was meaningful to them.

I understand y'all have the cowbell tradition, but what else? Is there even a good story for it? Any Ag can tell you the origins of why we wear our ring and what it symbolizes, the story of EK Gill, the first Aggie Muster, Silver Taps, Gig 'em, etc.

In my travels, I've met Aggies all over the world and have great stories to tell strictly because of the rings we wear.

What stories do you have to tell? Assuming you went to State, what makes you love your University?
