Why do we even bother playing the Ole Miss vs Alabama game anymore?

According to the Gumps it is a waste of time. My only response is that we play the game because nothing is guaranteed. Alabama is vulnerable because they take us for granted. Most coaches believe that a team can only get up 3 times a year for a special game. For Bama that has to be LSU AU and TAMU. You simply cannot get up for every game. Yes Bama is circled by every team but they have to pick the games they respond with a circle. No way in hell Saban has this game circled.

Bama will win the game Saturday just because they are better. But Ole miss is coming and this should be a great one to watch.

You're right. Nick Saban probably hasn't prepared for Ole Miss at all. The dude is so lazy.

Why? To keep all of the confederate Mississippi creatures that can't even spell kkk in check.

Problem is Ole Miss is in the top 10. And Ole Miss players are doing their best to make sure Alabama doesn't overlook them. Plus Alabama had a bye so it's less likely that they are looking past this game.
(All of the above only applies if Alabama wins. If Alabama loses, the OP was right, Alabama overlooked Ole Miss and beat themselves.)

We aren't in the top ten anymore

If you want respect from the Gumps, Ole Miss has to beat them every once in a while.
Until then, Updyke has no reason to poison our Grove trees...

Considering the record is 47-9-3, I don't think UA has any problems with whether they need to circle this game or not.

Ole Miss by 49. Alabama will have negative offensive yards for the game, won't even across mid field, much less the red zone. Ole Miss will kneel on their last two possessions just to keep it civil.

Well, shite. I didn't realize that. Alabama is definitely overlooking them now.

As a AU fan, I hate alabama. However, bama is going to beat that ole miss behind this weekend, bruh.
Same ole miss will show it's head this weekend. Ole Miss will not make it to Atlanta, as usual. Ole miss will have atleast 3 l's. Nothing is new under the sun.

Saban doesn't circle games. Saban preaches you should play as hard against any opponent. Whether its a top 10 team or an unranked team
And it's the fans that take ole miss for granted. Not the team. Don't confuse the two.

We have my case in point. This is the mindset of Bama. OM used to have a similar mindset to Vandy and then some new coach named Franklin showed up and beat us 4 out 5. Last year doesn't count because Bama had one of our old coaches reading our plays and it was apparent that ya'll knew the plays we were running. This year everything is different. Luckily for us we shite the bed against Memphis State. We will be at home with game day and will be ready to play.
