There are a 120ish or so FBS O-Cordinators, and another several hundred operating at all levels of football across the country; from year to year, there will be variance in success. That he has done so well at it, over a long time, speaks very well of him-- however, he's also done it with two teams that have an embarrassment of riches, when it comes to raw materials.

I'd say he's extremely good at his job-- a top notch offensive guy at making things work, even-- but I don't know if I'd qualify him over a guy who works at a marginal program and makes them better than what they should be, by a large margin.

I'd guess him as being a Top 10 type guy; the Top 5 guys, to me, end up as successful head coaches somewhere, eventually.

Thank you CraigBiggio, if he did he is not close to being a top 5 play caller. Hardly any work as an OC by himself. Even saying Sark did nothing and it was all Lane doesn't change the opinion. Anyone with an embarrassment of riches talent can look pretty good most of the time.

Not saying he doesn't know his trade at offense. If he keeps his mouth shut, he should be fine at Bama. If Bama loses to somebody 17-10, will it be the QBs fault or Kiffin's.
