I think he's got a legit shot to win it only if:

-Mariota and the Ducks lose a game/ get held out of the playoff (sort of likely)

- Jameis continues being Jameis. Honestly with his current stats and the suspension he SHOULD be done, but of course him being a dumbass will be looked as adversity and not poor character. (highly likely he continues being a dumbass, and his current stats are 3 TDs and 2 INTs with 600 yards.)

- Gurley and Georgia don't win the East, and he doesn't put up godly numbers (somewhat likely to likely)

- Someone stops Kenny Hill from putting up numbers/ aTm doesn't win the west (unlikely he gets stopped numbers wise, but somewhat likely they lose the west)

- Golson doesn't get the obligatory Notre Dame votes/ Notre Dame doesn't run the table (unlikely to even)

- Someone doesn't notice Ameer Abdullah (pretty likely)

- Alabama runs the table (meh, even.)

So, what are your stipulations for a Cooper, a WR to win the Heisman trophy this year? And yes I made a thread.

He doesn't. West is too good. In order for a receiver to win it he has to be putting up 150 a game. Sims would probably get it before Cooper would,

Pulled from the Bama Board:

43 catches for 655 yards and 5 TDs

Coop is averaging:

10.8 catches per game
163.8 yards per game
1.3 TDs per game
15.2 yards per catch

He's on pace for:

12 games: 130 catches, 1966 yards, 16 TDs
13 games: 141 catches, 2129 yards, 17 TDs
14 games: 152 catches, 2293 yards, 18 TDs
15 games: 162 catches, 2457 yards, 19 TDs

I think it would be pretty cool if Amari won it. Larry Fitzgerald got screwed at Pitt. But the voters have gotten a little more open-minded since then.

Amari Cooper has the talent to win the Heisman. This past week proved it. He went one on one against the best CB in college football and frickin' shined. And props to Sims for getting him the ball. Bama has found an offense.

The rest is just luck. But he deserves to be on the short list, no doubt.

Amari Cooper completely owned VH3. There's simply no other way to say it. #1 WR vs #1 CB one on one and Cooper dominated. Dude is nasty.

At the moment, Cooper is the most dominant player in the country and has the media attention. Its possible if every game is a 10 catch, 150 yard game. Its hard for receivers to win tho.

He's impressed me so far.

QBs get more Heisman votes than WR.
So do RB, but if he has 2000+ and 20 TDs he will get it.

If Cooper keeps getting 10ish touches a game he'll be the clear cut favorite IMO.

The only thing that could hurt him IMO is if some wr's at smaller school that sling the ball around all game long put up similar numbers.

Some of these offenses like Baylor and WVU really inflate their WR stats.

I've admired Cooper with his scary speed for his career. Best at his position. But:

Mariota wins because the award is decided before the playoffs, and I think Oregon rolls over the Pac.

Jameis is out. This: "but of course him being a dumbass will be looked as adversity and not poor character." is bullshite, even if they win another NC. He's damaged beyond repair.

Gurley maybe should win it, but won't because Mariota will and because an SECw team will beat the SECe team badly in the SECCG.

As much as I'd like to see Kenny Hill win it, he has 2 more years and so loses any sympathy-vote. He doesn't have the SportsCenter moments of JFF, and rightly or wrongly voters will pay attention to that. 2015 is his year.

Ameer Abdullah - umm... you got me. Gotta look this one up.

Cooper needs to continue his lights-out performances (tough, with the upcoming schedule) AND for Oregon to lose a game or two and/or Mariota to have a bad game or two.

I think it may be awhile before another freshman or sophomore wins the heisman, IMO. Thanks to Johnny and Jameis.
