Is is just me or is anybody else worried that at some point this season, he will have a "freshman" type performance?

Maybe just the slow starts the last two weeks. I also think having Mathews back at center will help a ton.

Thoughts?

Umm... it's just you.

He hasn't been perfect, but he's level-headed enough that I just can't see him having a crappy game.

Having Mike back will help us score more than 58? OK... get 'im back!

Yes and if form holds it will probably be during LSU.

Fortunately we have lots of power packages and hopefully Spavital has learned enough to recognize the need to go ersatz Arky if the situation calls for it. MSU ran up the gut for something like 300 yards the other day, their interior defense is... not great.

I don't think so, but if I'm wrong I'll start chugging bourbon, not namby-pamby koolaid. I just don't see what's not to like. The offense is better in every way. That part seems obvious to me. There won't be as many (any?) SportsCenter moments - so what? We don't have Gurley at RB, but I really like all 3 no 4 no 5 of our RBs. WR? Holy moley. Malcome looks like he's demanding an NFL look, Josh Reynolds, RSJ is unstoppable, Jeremy Tabuyo, Frank Iheanacho, Speedy will be back soon, and everybody's favorite white boy Boone have been fantastic, not just on receiving but blocking. And I probably left out 1 or 2. And when Cam Clear comes back full time he's going to absolutely demolish DB's.

The frequent complaint about the defense seems to be they haven't played anybody yet, and outside USC that's true. But look at last year:
SHSU: 28 points. Holy cow.
SMU: 13 points (vs. 6 this year)
Rice: 31! points (vs. 10 this year)
Even woeful UTEP scored a TD.

Lambo is perfect. (And admit it, we all bitch about it when we bring out our perfect FG kicker because we didn't manage yet another TD. That's awesome.) Kaser is booming punts again. Return guys on KOs and punts have a bunch of good returns. A TD is coming soon.

Big test coming up for our DTs and LBs at JerryWorld. I think they'll be fine, but even if they aren't perfect I think Ark gets down by 14 early and panics.

So sayeth the old curmudgeon .

I have seen nothing thus far that makes me think Hill will have one of "those games", and a lot of it has to do with our scheme. We just dont put him in situations that allow for that many mistakes. He was great against USC, but he only attempted about 4-5 genuinely difficult throws that game. The vast majority of his passes were good reads but easy throws.

I think teams are going to start pressuring our WRs at the line and forcing him to beat them over the top. He's shown he's deadly accurate on the short to medium throws but has a little work to do going deep. I could see this giving us a little more trouble against an athletic secondary like OM or Bama. I don't see him having a game where he turns it over three or four times though.

We would be naive to think he won't have a game this season that doesn't live up to everyones expectations and that he can keep up this torrid pace of just destroying teams with his arm. There will be some team who will show him something he hasn't seen yet and that might affect his performance but Kenny is a smart kid and I wouldn't expect him to "panic" or lose control in a sense. Adversity is like a brick wall and at some point we will face it but Hill will just find a way to battle that and bust through, hopefully. But that goes for the team not only QB1.

Here's the thing though...why wouldn't we start punishing those teams by running it up the gut with Carson and White?

Hopefully that's what we do. I'm confident we can do it and I have more faith in Spav to call it.

Maybe the best thing about Kenny is that he lacks the gene for excitement. He stays low key perpetually. I don't think he'd go Tannehill, freak out, and throw 3 picks if we got behind.

I also hope he doesnt dump it off on a 3 yard slant route over the middle when it's 3rd and 10 like Tanny either

No. We are A&M. The further our QB is from his senior year the better he is.

I think this is the key to beating Arky. Get an early lead and make them throw while we go to our own run game.

Who knows? But I really like what I've seen so far. He's also about to have a bailout weapon of massive proportions that the nation really knows little about: Mr. Cam Clear.

Clear is a ridiculous mismatch that we most assuredly are going to spring on some poorly prepared opponent.
