I would guess either/or.

I'm over this. Minuscule chance I'll be targeted because everyone's data is out there.

Meh, mine's been compromised 2 or 3 times at different stored over the years. Every time it happened, the credit card company caught it, deactivated my card, and overnighted a new one to me.
It's bothersome and worrisome, but nothing to get too concerned over. Most good credit cards have safeguards in place to protect you.

I used mine at least 50 times. I was getting my house ready to rent.

Sucks for me. I use my business card for everything, and I'm pretty sure the guys that get the numbers go after cards with business names on them instead of real names.
I'm guessing they're thinking the money won't be noticed as quickly and probably that there's always money in the account.
Forth new card in eight months. Kind of sucks because every time I get the numbers memorized I get a new one.

Didn't get caught up in this one but I got by Michael's three times in a year. My credit union is really on top of it though.

quote:I was told that when a breach occurs, the company breached makes a list of all compromised numbers and send those to the various card companies. If a number shows up on that list, the company automatically deactivates the card for anything but a physical swipe and immediately issues a new number/card.

Pretty much. Last time it happened to me I had a new card in my mailbox before I even got a letter telling me my card had been compromised.

Not too worried... I highly doubt that I win the 1/56M anti-lottery.
