But even with Georgia having kicked off from the 15 the refs and SEC didn't place the ball at the Georgia 40. Georgia could have stopped Williams inside the LSU side and they darn sure could have tackled Charles Scott from taking it in 35 yards.
Neither the refs nor the SEC placed the ball at the Georgia 5 after Green's penalty.

I know...I've already said I don't blame the refs for the loss. Although there is no justification whatsoever for that penalty.
The fact is, it's a completely different game if it's a touchback and LSU starts with no momentum at their 20 as opposed to starting at their 40. That's just common sense. For all we know Scott could have taken the next handoff for 60. They could've bled the clock and kicked a FG. We obviously still could have lost. But our chances would have been much, much greater at hanging on had that penalty not been called.
