Ok, so I finally read what actually happened and you motherfrickers are taking this WAY too serious. This is pretty damn funny. He wasn't harassing a girl, he was just yelling something crude. Lol. Seriously, get over yourselves and your "high morals."
The rape thing, sure be morally superior and upset. Stealing crabs, funny but yeah you can act all high and mighty. A twenty year old yelling some obscene meme around campus? STFU.

In the context of a Title IX investigation into a rape allegation against him, it looks pretty dumb.

Yes, the rape allegation is serious.
The response to him yelling this is a bunch of old dudes yelling at the kids to get off their lawn and feeling superior because they didn't do stuff like that in the good ole days.
I almost said old white dudes, but race week is over.

I feel like you're swimming against all of civilization here. I think he got off easy.

I generally find myself in this position during stories like this. JFF last offseason. Winston now.
I'm not saying this was a smart move by Winston, but I just see a dumbass 20 year old being a dumbass 20 year old.

Sure. That's what it was. But when you're a Heisman trophy winner, everything you do is public. He likes that fact. He loves being in the spotlight. Except when he's stealing crabs, running train on some chicks or yelling obscenities in the quad. He'll either figure it out or he won't. My money is on "won't."

I'm not saying there shouldn't have been a punishment. It was stupid and as a representative of the University there will be consequences to stupid activities like that.
That being said, the people calling him a tPOS are overreacting to a case of immaturity imo.

WTF are you talking about? Morally superior? I think people are just pointing out this guy is full of bad decisions. It's not this one act, it's the culmination of his decisions. I'm pretty sure almost any other college player could do the same thing, and there probably wouldn't even be a thread.
Your comment is very ironic.

tPOS is cumulative. He's getting there.

As someone who has called JFF a tPOS in the past, I disagree.
Jameis is a dumb motherfricker.

You don't see it?
I can entertain the cumulative argument of stupidity and certainly agree with those comments merely pointing that out. It's the ESPN types who tell the story and come off indignant. It's the comments you see around here dripping with the same. It's an epidemic in our public discourse. Manufacturered outrage to allow the outraged to feel superior to the POS who did "blah blah."
That's the context I'm coming from. I can see that in a vacuum it is a nonsequitur.
Also, I'm very much aware that I'm getting my self righteous on by commenting on other's self righteousness.

This.
The guy is off in the head. That's easy to see for most.
Guys like JFF and Cam like attention, but I've never thought of them as unpredictable. I fully expect Winston to end up in prison, and that's sad considering how talented he is.

I'm playing a game of disctintions here.
This: Funny but dumbass given your position.
Stealing Crabs: you probably have cause to drop tPOS.
See what I'm getting at?

Oh, see, I was going for the holistic descriptor

While I see your point, it comes with the territory of choosing to be in the spotlight. Public opinion has always offered up unwarranted criticism, it's just more magnified now. The fact Winston can't comprehend his circumstances and the position he is in worries me.
Honestly, I think most people are just baffled by some of his decisions and can't understand how someone with so much opportunity right in front of him can't maintain. I really don't think it's self-righteousness, but pity that this guy is probably going to do what we all think he's going to do.

That's completely fair.
My complaint is the unwarranted criticism.

Meh, it's just as warranted (if not more so) as the criticisms Manziel endured, IMO.

You have to realize I thought the JFF stuff was ridiculous.

this. i've always held to the fact that Johnny's a douche... but a fairly harmless douche.
this dude is going to hurt himself or another sooner or later. or if current allegations stand, he already has.
