Where is this world? The world is as moral now as it has ever been

No. It is not. Morals have changed. Growing up we did not feel a need to lock our doors. We rode our bikes all over town without fear. There was no abortion. Kids did not shoot smeone for being "dissed".

We had out own problems, but those were not among them. To say things are as moral is incorrect. Now...you may not have a problem with moden morality....but morals are certainly not the same.

"young men shooting each other..."

Been going on since the invention of the gun...before that they stabbed and beat one another to death.

But not as openly or as prevalent as it is now. I think that is his point. It was much more isolated then and now it has entered main stream.

It would seem as if the practice of spanking kids has only diminished since the 90's maybe??? I know in the 70's it was very common

It began in the '70s with Dr Spock and the "Don't spank your kids, you will diminsih their self esteem."

so it might be that all of this spanking that took place in previous generations is what created the fricked up world we live in..

Except that for decades we did not have the problems we have today...ok. We had the problems as you pointed out, but not to the degree. Not nearly as widespread. It began to spread smewhat in the 60s when young people began to defy authority. First it was the goverment (and yes, I believe we need to keep a close eye on the government) then the police, teachers and finally a toal lack of respect for parents.

Don't get anybobody wrong on here. I don't think anybody is condoning Ray Rice or Reggie Bush. THEIR problem stems more from never being told no and being allowed to do what they please when they please. They are not used to having limits placed on them. There has to be limits on everything. And moral boundries have to be in place and enforced.

Changing morals does not equate to a world without a moral compass. Morals change as society evolves. It was once considered moral to own another human being...in my lifetime it was moral to have separate but equal education. It is not a mainstream act for a young man to shoot another young man....even in neighborhoods where it happens frequently it is a shocking incident....that is one of the reasons we hear about...if it bleeds it leads....if we weren't shocked by it, if it weren't for it being so uncommon, we wouldn't hear about it.

We had other, more pressing problems. It was perfectly acceptable to a large number of European not so long ago to attempt to wipe Jews off the face of the planet (it wasn't just in Germany....Austria, Poland and a pretty sizeable % of France was in complete agreement). Lynchings were pretty common in the United States at one time....yet kids were spanked pretty regularly....and apparently had Daddy at home every night, for what it is worth. Man is a piece of work....there is no bounds to the hijinks we will get up to....on the flip side of that some of the shite we come up with is mind boggling in the benefits provided....
