Not to get off topic but my wife did and I can't tell you how much I appreciate her being willing to read the finer works of literature....I like to read myself but I have never appreciated reading as much as I do now that have my wife has been introduced to "Mommy Porn"....

I'm late too this thread but would like to add a couple of comments...

You should qualify your posts with whether you have kids or not. If you don't......shut the frick up...you don't know what you're talking about. Sorry.

I have two boys....and love them dearly. They start challenging your authority at about the age of 4. IMO...corporal punishment has to be a part if your discipline.

I've used bare handed spanking and "pops" conservatively....usually as a last resort or for serious offenses...such as hitting each other or being evil with their mom. Also as a way to deal with very bad behavior.

I have a cousin whose parents used "time outs" and other sensitive punishments ..... their kid was a raving lunatic.

Spanking is one thing. I got a belt and a switch. But, I never was bleeding or bruised. If that happens it is crossing a line. But, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be the deciding vote on a jury or anything.

I'm of the belief that kids need strict discipline coupled with uninhibited love. Kids need discipline and corporal punishment is part of it. But, like everything else with raising kids youre pretty much learning on the job and just do your best lbased on your upbringing and what you think is appropriate.

In a world now with no moral compass...and young men shooting each other...beating women..sexual predators....kids shooting kids...I think its really funny when new age behavioral "experts" try to tell us that the way our parents and grandparents did it is "wrong". Especially when most of the kids that do this stuff don't have a father in the picture or any discipline at home.

I can't speak for girls, but young boys need discipline and you can only get so far with psychological warfare. Sometimes you have to spank and its shitty for everyone involved but you hope it will teach them what is and is not acceptable behavior.
