After teasing the college football world with his talents a season ago while filling in for an injured James Franklin, Mauk has crept into the spotlight as one of the most intriguing prospects at the position. He is a natural gunslinger with a great sense of timing, anticipation and ball placement. Mauk throws guys open with precise throws in tight windows, yet avoids the big mistake that typically accompanies a risk taker at the position. While he certainly needs to continue to improve his judgment within the pocket after tossing a pair of interceptions against Toledo, Mauk is a big-time passer with the skills to take the Tigers to the next level.

His numbers are really hard to get a grasp on when compared to Daniel, Gabbert and Franklin. Seems he throws less but when he does throw, he throws for more. i.e. his total yards are lower but his ypa are higher.

Also, I know we've always been more of a run team than most people realize, but I don't remember this much of a gap. I my recollection just faulty?

62% runs
38% pass

I'm still reserving myself until conference play starts. I got one foot on the bandwagon.
