I've been thinking about this a bit, following the throttling of Lamar this weekend. My perceptions at this point: the good, the bad and the ugly.

The Good

1. Probably one of the best OL's in the country.
2. Very young, but deep & talented WR corps.
3. Kenny Hill is going to continue to grow as a QB.
4. Speed abound on defense.
5. Good special teams.

The Bad

1. Secondary needs to get better fast or we will still have to outscore the better teams on our schedule. Really the only consistent play has been from true freshman Armani Watts. The dude is a beast.
2. Young DL. I'm surely no genius, when it comes to football, but with all of the speed we have now, it just seems like our stud DE's often take bad angles to the QB. Please someone explain this to me. Is that the case?
3. Lack of quality depth at the LB positions.

The Ugly:

1. Senseless penalties on defense. Primarily due to youth, I think.

2. We will get torched (by Auburn,LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Missouri) if we don't get the issues corrected in the secondary.

That's about all I can think of right now. What say you?

Don't you worry child. Kenny Hill will go all Manziel to win it on a last second play for a third year in a row. Don't you worry.

I think they are. Secondary needs a lot of improvement. I think to offense will be VERY difficult to stop.

Good enoug to win the West? Remains to be seen. I hope not. If Georgia wins the East (BIG if) A&M would present a TOUGH matchup. But yes. They are, in my opinion, a MUCH better team than everyone thought they would be.

Serious answer.

I think they are well coached, and will be trouble for anyone. Just like with any other west team, A&M could have a great year, but still finish 4-5 in the division.

fwiw, I predicted the Aggies would be better than most thought before the season began.

Thought yall would go 8-4 and pull a huge upset.

Well, the upset already happened

I think the DL is farther along than anyone could have predicted. LB and Secondary are still a cause for concern, but being able to generate a legitimate pass rush with just 4 guys is a nice thing to see.

Best offense in the country IMO. Defense is better but still not with the elite in the conference. That will result in 2-3 losses which is damn good considering.

This doesn't seem like a thread started by and Aggie.

I agree with your points. When you play the 3-4 games that make/break your season, you will need your defense to get your offens back on the field. The thing I took away from the USC game is you guys due exactly what you wanted on offense, and looked great. When you wind up in a game in which the defense isn't letting you get gains on screens and pressing your WRs on sidine routes, the defense is going to have to give the offense more opportunities.

The eye test says yes so far, but it appears also that SC wasn't anywhere near as good as most expected. Playing an FCS school is also tough to judge.

The offense or defense hasn't been challenged in a meaningful way yet imo. Time will tell, but they look promising and the D has done things I didn't see the prior two years.

It is easy to see why Aggie fans are excited about their team. Let's see how the rest of the season plays out.

Who knows, but we all have our flaws.

The teams that win the SEC needs some luck, depth, and well, good players. We all have that in common.

What we don't know is how some of the teams respond to bad plays, being down, and injuries.

The only thing I know is that LSU didn't roll over and die after being down 24-7.

A&M is a good team. It just sucks the west had a number of good teams.

A&M has looked very impressive. I thought your O would regress with everything you lost. It actually looks like it has improved. Your D has definitely improved, IMO. It's kind of early to tell how good A&M is. I think we will know more over the next month. A&M is a bunch I am very concerned about.

I was going to say you guys would get a little test coming up...but I guess Rice and SMU lost a lot? They are both winless.

I think Arkansas could give you guys some trouble because those RB's they have will probably run all over you + eat up tons of clock.

Could be interesting.

Everything looks pretty spot on. Depth at LB and consistency in the secondary are our main weaknesses right now.

Short answer is yes.

I said before the season that TAMU would surprise a lot of people with how much talent (rb, wr and OL) they have on offense and if their Qb performs they will be tough to beat. Defense is still the big question.

If the ball bounces right they could go undefeated. I don't think this will happen as I feel that road games at Au and Bama will be losses. LSU seems to have y'all number as well.

The west is so good you could be a lot better than last year and still have 3-4 losses.
