Great pic, of a younger more energetic Mack.

He was certainly better than the current circus they have going on.

I feel bad for Ash, his career is over and he's going to have a lot of health problems when he gets older.

Now the good news is is that the sips are fricked and they will be lucky to make a bowl this year.

I do too, I with the kid a long and happy life, it's never a good thing to see anyone injured.

I wouldn't wish that type of injury on any player. That ducks and I hope he hangs up his pads and lives and lives a good life.

I feel bad for him. He's a good kid, but stubborn about playing due to the lack of perspective of youth. His parents need to step the frick up. Even though he's over 18 and no longer their ward, they can still threaten the coaching staff with going to the media and shaming them for playing a brain damaged kid. With the attention being given to concussions that would absolutely put an end to this. It's time man. The gig is up.

Otherwise, Alabama's bowl game against Oklahoma will keep happening. While the Big 12 limps along at a comparative (and inarguable) talent deficit vis a vis the the loaded SEC, astute Big 12 fans can only shrug and laugh when they watch A&M and Auburn light up "a defensive league where that stuff won't fly." Of course it works. Big 12 defensive coordinators have been forced to teach their defenses to actually think since 2008. With varying degrees of success, I might add. But the days of 11 defensive marionettes looking to the sideline for a brain transplant every thirty seconds are over. The HUNH won't allow it.

Garrett Gilbert wasn't the problem. The way he was developed at Texas was certainly a problem though. Kid needed a RS or to at least have a chance to develop. Instead he was hyped as the second coming and got the blame unfairly for the NC game. All you had to do is watch that Baylor/SMU game and see that Gilbert wasn't all that bad last year compared to the disaster they have now.

More than that though, Texas struck out bigtime on QB recruiting after that. They managed to miss out on the greatest era of HS QB talent the State of Texas has ever produced. Tons of 1st Round NFL picks have come out of Texas since the mid '00s and somehow Texas the school didn't get any of them.

They also fell down in recruiting everywhere else. They got the hype but not the skills. Texas hasn't had an OL drafted since the '00s and I don't know who on the roster changes that trend. If you don't have strength up front it makes it awfully hard for a pocket passer to be effective.

Oh, and NEVER feel like you aren't supposed to "care" about the sips. TSip tears are one of the greater joys in life, don't deprive yourself.

Two more sips dismissed, both from the offensive line.

ETA - now reading that it might just be one game suspensions for the BYU game and OB jumped the gun.

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I figured here better than anywhere.

Mack had just got done moving most of his memorabilia to his home in NC and it caught fire.

LINK

there's a lot of things to not like about him as the coach of our longtime rival, but he seemed like a pretty genuine guy, and it's gut wrenching to think of all the awesome things that he had collected over the course of 20 years in coaching. To have Texas treat him the way they did his last couple of years and then that? ouch.

Fortunately he and Sally were safe.

Even for one game, that is going to hurt against BYU.
That is 3 starting OL and a starting QB not playing next week. Its about to get ugly in the ATX.

The game is basically a toss up according to the line. With a 1-0 start, all the hype and praise on Strong, revenge factor, Saturday evening game with no sun, etc.. etc.. here are current ticket prices:

You can buy lots of lower level sideline seats for less than $75 on Stub Hub. Upper level between the 20s for $60. There are hundreds of good seats for less than $100.

If you just wanted to get into the stadium you can get tickets for less than $34 on Stub Hub.
