I didn't realize that he had been knocked out w/them three years running. He has to quit now or else he will end up with mush for brains.

Those cock suckers started a kid who they knew was concussion prone, he's gonna wind up like Rocky 4 and that no moral compass Charlie Strong is to blame.

Actually it was 1-9. Their only win was against a team that went 0-10. And they had so few players at the end of the season, they forfeited their last game.

I'm browsing shaggybevo. Best comment so far:

They should have been working the entire offseason, bombarding him with woodpecker stem cells. Those things take blows to the head all day long and seem to be free of concussions.

Now Petty apparently has a cracked spine. Of course Briles will play him every snap.

He has cracked transverse processes, which really isn't a big deal. The vast majority of people who play past the middle school level do it at some point and never even know it because the pain is often so mild or nonexistent.

After watching him last night, I would say his pain is not mild or nonexistent... he is either a pussy or was hurting fairly bad. He winced a number of times and had trouble basically walking off the field and throwing a decent ball.

Replying to myself.

quote:

Before Monday's diagnosis, coach Art Briles was asked why Petty played the rest of the half after seemingly being hurt. Briles echoed the nothing-serious aspect adding, "He needed the reps."

I know what you meant... but within the context of Baylor... kind of funny.

If the concussions are that delayed, he may already have irreversible head trauma. If Strong doesn't step in, someone higher up may have to.

His last two games (UNT and KSU last year) have resulted in concussion symptoms despite the fact that he didn't really have a single stand-out hit to the head in either game, just ordinary tackles that any QB is going to get in a football game, and despite the fact that he's had a 10-month resting period between the two. They need to take away his helmet and pads if he wants to remember his own name by age 40.

I know Briles is crotchety, but this is ... strange.

If I were his Dad I'd tell him to hang em up.

I should have listened to my dad when I was having pro style injuries. Now I'm a bit torn down, without the pro style pay.

And Briles should be ashamed of himsel. That game was well in hand and it's a long season.

Ash seems like a good dude. Best of luck to him.

This is great news for the Aggies. They MIGHT finish .500 now. It pretty much cements the fact that A&M will have a better record by a few games. Which means that A&M will again dominate in recruiting ANOTHER year. Another year of this status quo and the talent gap will be so large I don't see how Strong can possibly make up for it.

Their only hope is that Sumlin goes NFL and we trip over our own dicks somehow

I sure hope that isn't correct. Petty is a legit Heisman contender. I don't give much of a damn about Baylor, but I hate seeing great players from any team taken out by injury.

Hard to fathom how the qb situation in sipland got so wretched in the first place...

They went all in on Garrett Gilbert and it backfired. Missing on him set the program back 3-4 years in and of itself.

This scares the shite out of me. For the very first time, the good ol boy system got a homerun hire. Let's all hope our regents have more jogging buddies.
