BoCam2's Sunday morning unofficial power rankings: Week 1

My rankings based on performance through my perspective, my biases, and a top secret formula. Pick them apart at your discretion.
West:
1. aTm - The aggies took apart USCe from start to finish. Maybe the gamecocks were over-rated. Doesn't matter. Sumlin plugged in a new QB and stomped a top 10 team on the road.
2. AU - Started slow on defense, getting manhandled by the hawg o-line for the first half. Made some nice halftime adjustments and demolished Arkansas in the second half. A quality win over an SEC-W opponent is always a good start to the season.
The first two were easy. Now comes the fun part.
3. LSU - Yes, I know they were beaten for most of the game. I also know they have issues at QB. Even with this knowledge, it cannot be debated that they went out in their first game and beat a solid top 20 team at a neutral site.
4. Bama - Saban still has work to do dealing with spread offenses. Doesn't look like the offensive identity has been established. The talent is there. The only questions are how long will it take to come together and when does Coker begin his heisman campaign?
5. Miss St - Dominated a hapless Southern Miss team on both sides of the ball. Offense was sluggish to start with, but the defense wasn't. Would rank higher, but it was Southern Miss.
6. Ole Miss - Bo looked pretty good in the second half after a disastrous start, but I can't let the fact that you put up 7 points in the first 3 quarters against BSU go unpunished.
7. Wiskansas - Sorry Arky, you're the only team in the west that lost. Played a hell of a game for a half, though.

East:
1. UGA - Gurley is healthy and is exactly what UGA's opponents thought he would be. Still some questions on the back half of the defense, but this is a scary team.
2. Tennessee - Demolished a Utah State team that was expectedd to give the Vols all they wanted.
3. Mizzou - Certainly not an impressive win, but they got through the first game with a W and gained valuable experience on the d-line.
4. UK - Impressive domination of a Tennessee middle school from start to finish. Could the Kats win an SEC game this year?
5. SCAR - Top 10? Nice flop. Hopefully the HBC makes his tee-time today.
6. Vandy - Damn. Just.... damn.
Ineligible for week 1 ranking:
Florida - You can't take pride in calling it the swamp if you can't play in it. You did look good for the first 10 seconds though.
ETA: UT now in the rankings @ #2.

Lol at LSU a third. That Badger team they barely beat is horrible. I haven't seen Wisconsin look this bad in years.

For beating Arkansas? You should drop them at least below LSU and probably below Bama.
If you just dropped them below LSU I'd say you look less biased. No way Auburn deserves that much respect for a win at home over Arkansas.

Agree with this. While LSU looked awful in the first half, winning a game like that with a young team is a great confidence builder...better to win that way with a young team than to win 31-10....now it helps build confidence and not only that easy to let these players know "you guys might have been 5stars, but you ain't perfect, we're not unbeatable and we sucked for a while, and there's work to be done"
Wisconsin is a solid opponent..furthermore i think TexA&M, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, and Bama should all be proud of their first week wins...ole miss too, although their level of competition was not on par with the other 5

OM should be higher. Really hard to differentiate much though with only one game played.

I might agree. LSU being third is somewhat reasonable, but I just think that "getting the light turned on" happens to Bama before it happens to LSU. Either way, the division is likely decided when A&M plays Auburn.
