On top of that, when he was pressured he did a great job of avoiding it and keeping his eyes down the field. He got sacked twice I believe, but I know one of those was over from the start. Guy came free and dropped him.

It's a definite change in his he moves. Manziel's balance was uncanny. Could instantly shift to a throwing position mid scramble. Never seen anyone do anything close. Most guys have to keep their body facing downfield constantly and when they panic it breaks down. See Mariota against Stanford. Kenny seemed poised when he left the pocket.

Sumlin will take the bait and try NFL at some point but college is where he is best suited. Oklahoma offense hasn't been same since he left

Finally someone answering the question. If someone is keeping score, this swamp kitten attributes Hill being the class of the division to Sumlin.

I mean that is really nice of you to acknowledge our greatness, but this thread is more about why we are great, not how great we are.

Oklahoma finished 7th in the Big 12 in total offense in Sumlin's last year there. They then finished 1st, 3rd, & 2nd after he left.

They also raised their ppg by 9 points the year after he left.

Did anything out of the ordinary happen that year?

So not the awesome recruiting or Texas High School football? Those won't change over the course of the season. I guess you need to see how talented Kenny really is and another season to see Sumlin? That's fair I guess.

Not selling him short. Just not as good as last nights performance, which was simply one helluva performance. Like I said, a lot of football left to be played (hell, Mauk hasn't even played yet).

But one of the keys for me was that completion percentage. Hill was over 70% I think. Mauk was around 50% last year, seemed to have fixed it in spring and the first scrimmage this fall, but the last 2 scrimmages this fall he was probably the 4th best QB by the numbers at least. Printz, Berkstresser and even true freshman Zanders had better numbers.

Is that the year they had to Paul Thompson from WR to QB because of suspensions and injuries? Didn't they still go to the Fiesta Bowl that year?

Texas is cool and all, but at the end of the day you only get 25 kids a season.

Some 4 - 5 stars are busts, but some 2 - 3 stars are golden.

It just all depends.

Further, A&M rolled into the SEC with the best player in their history and still didn't win anything.

I mean, I get it, yall are recruiting and whatever, but until it actually translates through an ENTIRE season, what else do we have to go by, your word?

We don't have the talent at receiver that A&M has either. Mauk will be serviceable this year, but I expect some growing pains from him.

No I just don't remember OU ever having that low of an offense in the Big 12. Was just curious. If you're trying to make a case for Sumlin not being the most pivotal factor in Kenny Hill being far and away the best QB in the division, that's a useful piece of info. What do you think the primary cause is? Texas high school football? The ridiculous amount of talent at A&M right now? Or just that Kenny himself is dripping in talent?

Again, you are loading the question in way so you can fap.

It could be all of those things you listed or USC was just that terrible on D.

I credit it to system and Kevin Sumlin... the word is that he was actually offered the eagles job before chip Kelly...atm upped his buyout clause but that expires in 2016, look for him to head to the league then

and I expect him to succeed, NFL scouts love sumlin, most thought johnny wasn't the right qb for his system

Since A&M rolled in to the SEC, we have the same number of wins as LSU. More bowl wins. More Heismans. More top 5 finishes. More wins over Alabama. More wins over Ole Miss. I could go on and on. And that was with a Big 12 roster. Y'all had just come off a national championship appearance roster.
