We gain more in recruiting by defeating a 5 win State team but I understand your perspective.

See, I disagree but to each their own. I don't think us beating them really matters very much when it comes to recruiting.

I'm talking about all this "it's just another game" BS that I've seen a few posters say. Idiots. They're FOS.

Agree. If you ever see me say something like LSU is our biggest rival, know that I'm not serious.

no. they will see it as 5 straight bowls, and 5/6 vs OM and will be very happy.

Which aren't bad accomplishments. But the worst thing for a program to do is become stagnant. Ole Miss and State are both so up and down that an occasional 8-9 win season is great to us. Yeah if you win 6-7 games a year while winning a bowl game and beating your rival, that's good but eventually if that's all you're doing it can do more harm than good to a program.

Something will happen to set one of us back soon.

Then the other program will laugh and say we are pulling away.

Then a bad thing happens to them.

It's a vicious cycle but its football life in Mississippi. At least we can both be good in baseball at the same time

y'all have played LSU in a meaningful game what, once-twice since 2000? not that we have either.

but seeing the LSU is our true rival stuff is pretty hilarious, most of those fans, especially the younger ones don't care. some of y'alls base acts like this in losing years but 2012 kinda showed how fake that all is.

exactly. they're great accomplishments if we want to stay the same old MSU that we pretty much always have been, which is ok for the older fans.

older, naive fans.
I know a lot more younger naive fans than older ones. We older fans pay for stuff and get coaches fired, though.
