The SEC Network is kind of sad

It's kind of tough watching players who are 2-4 years out of College, who didn't make it in the league, having to discuss college football and players who will most likely go on to actually make it in the league.
Greg McElroy and Tebow just make me bummed out. It would suck if Patrick Peterson or Honey Badger were on there.
Any Bama fans or Gator fans want to share how they feel about this depressing conundrum?

McElroy will be solid, I think. This is his first major gig and I think he is improving.
I do agree, though, that the network so far is pretty sad. Hopefully the games themselves will build viewers and enable them to bring in more talent in the booth.

agreed.
Still can’t believe that Tim Brando isn’t involved. I thought he was ok with CBS or whoever did the day game. He lives in Shreveport so he is an SEC guy! Not to thrilled about the announcers and definitely have no respect for Finebaum

Patrick Peterson? Why? He's busy continuing to make a name for himself and so is Tyrann. However, I've seen enough interviews of Honey Badger to know, public speaking is not his forte. "You know?" Ryan Clark would be a better option than those two, comparing where he is now in his NFL career and previous experience with ESPN.
Personally, I think the the SECN is just fine. Sure, there will be some growing pains and cringe-worthy moments from the analysts, but it's new and needs time to develop. Let them get their feet wet.

Former SEC football players discussing SEC football, what's the problem?

This is funny coming from a fan of a school with one of the biggest draft busts of all time
But I'm sure Bama/Gator fans don't really care how they do in the NFL considering the championships they brought us in college.

Sounds like you're pointing out Bama and Gator people, right? Well Marcus Spears is easily the worst on the network. McFarland is pretty decent. So how do you feel?

There is just a lot of air time to fill. I am fully expecting to flip over to SECN in the spring to be greeted by either "Beyond the Glory: The Johnathan Crompton Story" or Cecil Hurt waxing over swelling music
"...Santonio Beard could just do things that made you shake your head." // cut to a backlit Houston Nutt // "...I don't know that I have ever been part of a game that was more important to two fanbases than that 2002 game against Alabama...we were undefeated heading in and Alabama only had one loss..."

It's not that bad. I actually look forward to McElRube's locker room stories and his "Well when I was at Bama" interruptions every 5 minutes...
Apparently he had a new YouTube video out on the best ways to wear a baseball cap and hold a clipboard......

Do you always walk around with a cloud hanging over your head?

Not sure why it's depressing. GM looks like he's doing what he wants to do.
Yeah it would. I'd have to mute the TV.

I want to see JaMarcus Russell there, and I'm not even trolling.

Greg McElroy
NFL Draft: 2011 / Round: 7 / Pick: 208
Confirmed gigantic bust, NFL teams just hate it when those 7th rounders don't work out.
