Are we finally in the part of the off-season where Stonehog starts saying how much more talented Arkansas is than Auburn?

Last summer it was a joke to say AU had more talent than Arky. By the end of the year, the only reason Gus had more success than Bert was because he had much more talent to work with.

The spin from a few of these arky posters is tough to keep up with. We need Crow Pie to come back and chart it.

Numbers don't lie, Arkansas has a better defense than Auburn. Do you have any reason to argue otherwise besides your blind homerism?

In conference games, AU was better. By the end of last season AU was better. Against the run AU was better. AU allowed almost a touchdown less per game. Against conference opponents, AU allowed over a touchdown less per game. AU has more talent. AU has better players at most positions. AU is deeper at most positions.

I could go back and dig up some posts about how 2012 Auburn was going to be better without Malzahn, but I won't shame all those Auburn posters just for making a wrong prediction. It happens.

Is this where you pick one arbitrary statistic to prove your point and claim that's the only stat that matters?

You can make up all the stats you want, I'll stick with this one:

quote:

Total defense

Arkansas 76
.
.
.
Auburn 86

Which stat did I make up? Hell, I didn't even post a stat.

Where do the two compare on scoring defense?

Are you saying total defense is an arbitrary statistic?

It isn't totally arbitrary. However, it also doesn't tell a complete story and isn't the final arbiter of which of two defenses is better (or less worse in this case), which is how you are attempting to interpret the stat.

Total defense is a terrible stat that is easily skewed by the teams you play.

Efficiency metrics are the only real way to gauge defense or offensive performance.
