Oddly enough, about the time Richt got here and started winning SEC titles in football. What was their last great achievement? Making it to the Finals in the NCAA tourney in the early 2000's? Winning an ACC title and getting beat by Iowa in the Orange bowl in 2009? You could say it was when UGA hosted parts of the 96 Olympics as it set off the uilding of ECV and the Ramsey Center. From there, Richt was hired, Michael Adams went ape shite on construction projects, Athletics and the University began modernizing, and it just wasn't a contest for Tech's shitty ATL campus. UGA quickly became even moreso the destination University for most every high school student in GA and Tech had no shot at keeping up. In fact, they began clinging even more tightly to their elitist "smart kid" image which only killed their Athletics image even more in the modern world of recruiting.
