that lake can rise and fall 200 ft in a year

It's worse in parts of central TX. There's one lake near San Antonio that I saw pictures of that was near full like 4-5 years ago that is literally dry now. It's bad. The rivers are way way down too from what I've heard to where you can barely float them in some parts

2013 saw the least rainfall in CA since it became a state.

2014 is worse.

The area has had mega draughts that lasted hundreds of years, it's quite possible that can happen again.
