A couple questions about banning.

I just got allowed back on the board (thank you ) from my first and only (probably) disciplining. I know what I did was stupid, and deserved to be given a time out. But all I got was a "We're reviewing your posts" message and never an actual statement of banning. Is this SOP? Is the message different if it's a ban of a longer length?

It's really a confusing experience for the first time. Aren't there easier ways to let people know what's going on? Maybe a fixed time period message instead of an arbitrary limbo missive? "You are banned for a week/a couple days/a month or so?" And if you do something stupid on one board is it really necessary to be banned from all the boards? If someone gets heated in an argument on the main board and does something stupid, but has been less of an arse on other boards, maybe just a ban from that one board?

I'm not talking about repeat offenders who are making banning the end goal. Those guys are chodes who deserve very little mercy. I'm talking about the people who make poor decisions and really just need a time out.
