AFA update:

***21 Aug 8:20 AM Update***

Doc AFA Weather Forecast Record last year was 11-1. Thanks be to God and the spot-on Air Force Weather Agency Ensembles!

***NOTE: If you want updates on game day, please go follow me on Twitter...@Doc_Sanger. This is how I am updating my followers as kick off draws closer. I will also revise this thread once a day. Finally, Gabe has been kind enough to have me pre-record the game day forecast on the Thursday Fan Show.

Models continue the trend of reducing the rain and thunderstorm chances! I also raised the temps some since there may be more sun than clouds in PM.

BOTTOM LINE: If you are traveling to the game in Columbia, there is a chance you will need to pack your poncho as a few isolated to scattered showers & thunderstorms will be possible, especially on Thursday afternoon and evening.

Midnight Yell Practice: Mostly cloudy, warm, and humid with a 20% chance of showers and an isolated thunderstorm. The temperature will be around 75F with easterly winds at 5-10 mph. Relative humidity of around 90%.

Tailgate Weather: Mostly cloudy early, becoming partly cloudy, warm, and humid with a 20% chance of isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms, increasing to 40% by early afternoon. Easterly wind at 5-10 mph with gusts to 20-30 mph near thunderstorms. The temperature at daybreak will be around 73F before rising into the mid-to-upper 80s by early afternoon. The relative humidity will start off around 95% before dropping to around 50% by the early afternoon. The heat index will be in the low-to-mid 90s. Total rainfall amounts between 0.05 and 0.1 inches.

Kickoff Weather: Mostly cloudy, warm, and humid with a 50% chance of isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms. Easterly winds at 5-10 mph with gusts to 20-30 mph near thunderstorms. Total rainfall amounts between 0.1 and 0.15 inches.

Temp: 82F at kickoff, 80F at half, and 79F by end of game
Relative Humidity: 80-90%
Heat Index: Mid-to-uppper 80s
Winds: Easterly 5-10 mph; 20-30 mph near storms
Chance of Rain: 40%
Chance of Thunderstorms: 20%

Flying Weather (for those coming by private/commercial air): 80% chance of VFR conditions (ceiling/visibility > than 3000 feet/3 miles) from Wednesday morning through Friday morning.

I am keeping my eye on the tropics to see if an area of low pressure near the Windward Islands develops into a tropical cyclone, which may impact the East Coast next week, but it’s far too early to tell.

Cheers,

Doc AFA

I hope this isn't a glitch in the matrix because so far some serious deja vu vibes are going down lol

Great update from AFA:

***24 Aug 1:07 PM Update***

Doc AFA Weather Forecast Record last year was 11-1. Thanks be to God and the spot-on Air Force Weather Agency Ensembles!

***NOTE: If you want updates on game day, please go follow me on Twitter...@Doc_Sanger. This is how I am updating my followers as kick off draws closer. I will also revise this thread once a day. Finally, Gabe has been kind enough to have me pre-record the game day forecast on the Thursday Fan Show.

There are big changes for the better in this latest edition of the game day forecast. Thanks to Cristobal finally forming and more data being gathered over the storm and out ahead of its environment, the models have quickly come together on a re-curve track solution, which will keep it well away from the East Coast and most importantly, the Ags v Cocks tilt! As a result, the rain chances will be very low, the temperatures will be on the warm side, and the humidity levels will be much lower due to drier, northerly fetch. Let the good times roll as the Ags beat the hell outta the hapless cocks!

BOTTOM LINE: There should be beautiful weather for Yell, tailgating, and the game with mostly sunny skies, warm temperatures, and only moderate humidity levels.

Midnight Yell Practice: Clear and warm. The temperature will be around 71F with northerly winds at 5-7 mph. Relative humidity of around 70%.

Tailgate Weather: Mostly sunny and warm with only a 10% chance of a rogue shower. Northerly winds at 5-10 mph with gusts to 15 mph. The temperature at daybreak will be around 68F before rising to mid-to-upper 80s by early afternoon. The relative humidity will start off around 75% before dropping to around 35% by the early afternoon.

Kickoff Weather: Mostly sunny and warm with just a 10% chance of a renegade shower. Northerly winds at 5-10 mph with 15 mph gusts.

Temp: 86F at kickoff, 82F at half, and 77F by end of game
Relative Humidity: 35-40%
Heat Index: Low-to-mid 80s
Winds: Northerly at 5-10 mph with 15 mph gusts
Chance of Rain: 10%
Chance of Thunderstorms: Near 0%

Flying Weather (for those coming by private/commercial air): 95% chance of VFR conditions (ceiling/visibility > than 3000 feet/3 miles) from Wednesday morning through Friday morning.

Damn it. A Lamar warm up would have been nice instead of throwing Hill into the fire.

Did me a little dance this morning when I saw the Cristobal update on tOT thread. Told you guys a forecast 8 days out is meaningless.

It's not meaningless, but it can certainly change.
Provided you keep the above in mind, it never hurts to radar gaze.

But I'm a weather nerd, so forecasts get my motor runnin.

Yeah if you google the weather of Columbia on Thursday all our stations seem to be saying that it'll be good and clear.

On the other hand, USC will have absolutely no film on us. Our offense will look very different this year with Johnny.

Best case scenario is we ambush their defense for a couple quick scores while somehow lucking into making them turn the ball over early. Gotta throw the pressure on them and make them chase adjustments.

Maybe Howard Matthews will be SO out of position that Thompson will mistake him for an open receiver.

Man, you don't understand--I HATE bad defense. In any sport. One of the few things that can cause me to near-rage irl
