I think they should or the public should be allowed to record their encounter with them. Some cops are power hungry and I have had a personal experience with one recently in my local area. The cop I encountered basically threaten me cause I didn't want to talk to him and went over his head. He made it a point to ride by my place of residence and came by looking for me

They can, it's your legal right to record any public servant as long as you aren't interfering with them.
