Shep is the one still in the closet afraid to come out. Kind of strange for him to be criticizing

Sorry but suicide is a cowardly act regardless of who does it.

Yea, no one wants to hear that about a beloved figure and Shep is getting killed over it, as is Limbaugh, but it is a cowards way out. If he didn't have kids I wouldn't care, do what you want, but he did have a kid. Still, keep it to yourself if you are a public figure unless you want the wrath.

If you haven't committed suicide, you can't have an opinion on it. Am I doing this right?

Have you ever known anyone who is bi-polar? It's something they absolutely cannot control. The depth of depression for them is unfathomable to us.
The only way my best friend could handle it was to get blindingly drunk or take the meds that kept him in a stupor. He finally chose the only route that guaranteed it could not affect him.
You are either unable to empathize or have never known someone with the kind of depression that afflicted Robin Williams. It's a horrible affliction.

I do not agree with this.

It is a cowardly act. Your friend should have taken his meds. That was his choice. At the end of the day suicide is a choice made by the individual that is essentially giving up. Its cowardly and i could care less if anyone agrees with this. Sorry for your friend but it is what it is.

Cosigned. Especially knowing that mentality does nothing but harm when it comes to our country actually addressing mental health issues.
I guess the 13 year old we had commit suicide at work last year was just "being selfish". Totally didn't have anything to do with his Mom allegedly selling his depression meds or a chemical imbalance. Or struggling with the sexual abuse he endured from the age of 5 to 8. Was just selfishness. Amiright?

I'm thinking you must be very young.

He had adult kids, for chrissakes. It's not like he was leaving behind an infant.
As for whether it's a coward's way out, some of you need to actually get out and meet a wider variety of people. Depression, bipolarity, terminal disease diagnoses...these actually affect your thinking. There's nothing "cowardly" about having a chemical imbalance that actually makes you suicidal and it's pure ignorance to say so. I've had friends with depression that have committed (and in a couple lucky cases, failed in the attempt at) suicide, and I've had friends who were just melodramatic sans actual verifiable mental issues who attempted (and in one tragic case, succeeded in the attempt at) suicide. They're not even remotely similar cases. I don't understand them in either case, but I don't need to in order to grasp that mental problems and suicidal impulses aren't nearly as simplistic as many people believe. All it takes is actually knowing people who suffer from them and showing a bit of empathy for their issues.
