True, I have seen film of every big DT in this class. If you want a penetrating insanely quick DT your 2 choices are Mack and Thompson. Both are incredible talents. I like Thompson slightly better but I am biased. Mckenzie is just an absolute stud. He is strong, powerful, unblockable machine that is just made to play DT. I would probably take Thompson over Mckenzie because the inside terror he will wreak is going to be a lot of fun but it's really a tossup. Mckenzie is a fricking monster with an insane motor.

Yeah, I can't blame you for your opinion one bit. UGA fans have a lot to be excited about just like VOLS fans do about McKenzie.

The thing about McKenzie that gets me is just how athletic and quick he is off the ball to go along with his massive size and power. Like one analyst said at the Opening, "A body that big shouldn't be able to move like that".

My rankings Thompson Mckenzie Mack Green Payne Settle Tuttle The first two are really interchangeable because I am huge fan of KM. He is going to be tough to deal with in the future.

IMO, McKenzie, TT and Mack are in a league of their own at DT. You can't go wrong with any of them. This DT class, overall, is as stacked as I can remember one being. I can't wait to see how these guys develop.

Should Beckner Jr. be in the discussion, he's 290+ right now.

Is that sorry arse overrated Petitbon trying to block him? That guy fricking sucks, the services got fooled on him bad. Not surprised McKenzie ran him over, he will every time.

That isn't to imply that KM isn't any good, he is a great DT. Destroying that pussy isn't the best example though.

Haha frick Petitbon.

Yeah, true it's just the only gif I could find. Click the link that I posted. There's like 3 or 4 vine videos from the Opening also with McKenzie mauling people in similar fashion.

As to the comment about Thompson's fit in UGA's scheme 1) UGA is in 4-man front the majority of the time, and will be even moreso with Pruitt. 2) Timmy Jernigan was a beast for FSU this year in Pruitt's scheme. 3) 6'4" 310 lb athletes are a fit in any scheme. The idea that DT's cant succeed in a 3 man front is a myth.

Agreed. Especially with your last point. I'm sure it's a selling point when talking to recruits at 4-3 schools, but guys like this find a spot on any line.

Yes, Alabama decided to take an overrated OG.

To be fair, no real guards could really 1 v 1 a guy like that. Double teams will be the norm for him in college.

Oh? Fred Ulu-Perry did. He stoned McKenzie. Twice in a row.

And he is a Center, not even a Guard.

Yeah, I was impressed by that. That's the first time I've ever seen anyone do that to McKenzie in a 1v1 setting.

No matter. Alabama has Lester Cotton too. Now that's what God intended for an interior lineman.

Cotton is legit. He is very good. Kennedy is very underrated as well.

Thought Beckner was ranked as a DE.

He is, but I think there's a possibility he could play as a 3 - tech DT. LSU desperately needs a DT who can get into the backfield. Neither Ferguson or Johnson could do that on a consistent basis last season.

He is, but he is 6'4", 290. He is ranked as a SDE because he still possesses the quickness to play End even at that size. He would be a terror as a 3-tech.

He's a beast. Really hoping we can get him down in Baton Rouge for an official. I think the staff can make a push for him similar to Lorenzo Carter during the last cycle. Except this time we get Beckner.
