Fair enough, but in defense of at least our Gymnastics program, Sarah Patterson has been the coach since 1978, hired by Paul Bryant while he was AD at Alabama. She just retired, but essentially she was coach of that program for all but 3 years of its existence. It would be REALLY hard for us to have more than one coach with a title in that sport.
Same for Patrick Murphy (2 years after the Softball program started, has been there for 16 years).
Baseball, we made CWS trips a few times (3 different coaches) but sadly best finish was runner-up under two different coaches.
Basketball - heh. A single Elite 8 is our best run. Wimp Sanderson had a few Sweet 16 trips, but honestly we've never been great at basketball. Nowadays, we're not even "good".

No doubt Bama gymnastics has been stout under Sarah but part of the exercise is showing you can survive the "great" coach. Nobody is going to doubt Pat @ UT but until the Vols raise another banner they are locked in the 1 coach wonder. Duke has been successful under their current coach and UCLA was a beast under their former one but long term they could be 1 hit wonders when looking at the whole picture.
