I wasn't sure if you meant in each individual sport or all athletics combined

I was looking at primary sports and intended it to be a bookmark thread when folks from others conferences start talking smack. Winning a primary sport with a single coach is impressive but winning that same sport with multiple coaches to me is the better measure of greatness.

Michigan and Notre Dame won often but most were back 50 to 100 years ago. UCLA was great for about a decade but was nothing before and not much since. Southern Cal baseball was a beast but nothing really happening past the 1990's.

Fair enough, but in defense of at least our Gymnastics program, Sarah Patterson has been the coach since 1978, hired by Paul Bryant while he was AD at Alabama. She just retired, but essentially she was coach of that program for all but 3 years of its existence. It would be REALLY hard for us to have more than one coach with a title in that sport.

Same for Patrick Murphy (2 years after the Softball program started, has been there for 16 years).

Baseball, we made CWS trips a few times (3 different coaches) but sadly best finish was runner-up under two different coaches.

Basketball - heh. A single Elite 8 is our best run. Wimp Sanderson had a few Sweet 16 trips, but honestly we've never been great at basketball. Nowadays, we're not even "good".
