It is all about cycles. It was a complete reversal in the 90's. It seemed like the East was always deeper than the West in those years. Also, "better" is quite a subjective term really.

Favorable scheduling for certain West teams and not for others.

What happened the last time Bama played one of the top 3 for the east in the regular season?

agree

urban made it close again for a window. coaching is generally the answer - with saban, miles, and zahn i think the west is better until there is turnover in the west or upgrades in the east
