In our modern free-spoken society
There is a word that we still hold taboo
A word with a terrible history
Of being used to abuse, oppress and subdue
Just six seemingly harmless letters
Arranged in a way that will form a word
With more power than the pieces of metal
That are forged to make swords

A couple of Gs, an R and an E, an I and an N
Just six little letters all jumbled together
Have caused damage that we may never mend
And it's important that we all respect
That if these people should happen to choose
To reclaim the word as their own
It doesn't meant the rest of you have a right to it's use

So never under estimate
The power that language imparts
Sticks and stones may break your bones
But words can break hearts
A couple of Gs - jeez, unless you've had to live it
An R and an E - even I am careful with it
An I and an N - and in the end it will only offend
Don't want to have to spell it out again...

And this is what's wrong with the entire situation. Making a word, a collection of letters, acceptable for one group of people but a complete no-no for another group...what sense does that make? Either the word should not be said by anyone at all, or it should be ok for everyone. This stupid arse poem is trying to prove how bad of a word it is, yet advocates some people being able to use it while it's 'off limits' for others. BS.

Nope. if its ok for you to use, it should be ok for others to use. And this isnt restricted to just black/white.

The word "ese" is similar with southern california hispanics. Basically it means friend (homie, dawg, etc.) but if a whitey uses it...oh hell. its ON.

If its intended as some sort of race specific use term, then expect it to get made fun of or abused by those who are left outside the group. Thats just human nature.

This is bullshite, and here's why:

To the OP (and anyone else to whom the OP applies), if you REALLY want to use that word....go for it. Knock yourselves out. You're right, it's just a word--how dare anyone object to what you choose to have or not to have in your vocabulary?

The N word--like LITERALLY EVERY OTHER DESCRIPTOR, is all about context. If you're too dense to figure out when it's appropriate to use it and not, then you're a dumb motherfricker to begin with. If you use it as a pejorative, prepare for someone to object. If you use it in polite company, prepare for someone to object. If you use it within a group of like-minded friends, you're probably ok.

Trying to throw that word into this all-or-nothing zone is preposterous.

Man you're right we've got to stop the use and abuse of the word "GINGER"! What'd they do to you?

poor baby - man up & take charge of your life -- don't let one word control you or how you view your future. That is what the oppressor wants!
