UT has plenty of money. Their goal now is to find the path of least resistance to the playoff. The Big 12 is a two team league which gives them a one game schedule. 8 teams in the league owe their entire existence in a power 5 conference to Texas, which gives UT immense power over them. The league cannot survive without Texas which is what they want. That is why UT stayed in a crumbling league.

If it were true, they'd be in good shape. Unfortunately, for the only two teams that can be considered "national draws", Art Briles and Mike Gundy don't agree with that assessment.

Since the Longhorn Network launched:

-The Big 12 has had 3 different champions. One of whom had NEVER won an outright conference title and another who hadn't won one in almost 35 years. Those champions and co-champions, as Oklahoma technically was in 2012, went a combined 1-3 in their bowl games

-Texas hasn't finished a season with fewer than 4 losses

-Oklahoma hasn't finished a season with fewer than 2 losses

-No Big 12 school has finished with a top 10 recruiting class
