Les Miles' "clock it".

You are shamefully, monumentally, and woefully incorrect.
Les Miles (as he explained in the post-game press conference and on his TV and radio shows) was yelling at the ref that the "ball was down" (an Ole Miss DB had 'picked up' the ball after the Hail Mary catch and startng running like he had 'recovered' it).
The 'downward' motion he made to the refs was that the ball was down, he wasn't yelling at Jefferson. He and his staff knew the ref was going to start the clock as soon as he reached the line of scrimmage.
That was all on Jefferson. He didn't have the awareness to know that once the ref starts the 'arm-winding' motion, the clock starts (neither team had a time-out).
His """"""""""ONLY""""""""""""" options would have been (A) Throw a pass into the end zone or
(B) Try to scramble and run in for a score.
That's it.
The ball was on the 4 yard line and the clock was getting ready to start at the ref's signal - those were the only options he could have done.

But he didn't.
