If your kid was offered a scholly to a Historically Black College(99%) to play football? I've got a friend whose son was offered this week and was curious how some of you would react or handle this.
* The friend is white.

I can't come up with any realistic comparison to describe how miserable I think that college experience would be. Maybe the gymph in a GayTech frat house?

Depends somewhat on the school. Florida A&M may not be a horrible choice because it's right next to FSU and there is some cross-over culture between the two schools because of it (ie, hot white chicks and hot black checks checking each of the schools out).
Also depends somewhat on the kid. Some honkies could thrive in a situation like that, get a decent free education, enjoy the cultural differences and be richer for the experience. It might drive others to getting an AK 47, climbing a bell tower, and shooting co-eds.
So not a simple answer, I guess.

Girl I went HS with has a son that's a pitcher for Florida A&M...he seems to be enjoying his experience...I think there's a couple of more white kids on the team.

If he's good enough to get a scholly to play football at an HBCU, he's good enough to get a scholly somewhere where the degree is worth more. Even if it's a lower level of football with a partial scholly, I'd definitely look at other options.

Surely there has to be another college out there that needs a punter.

Not my problem and would totally give a politically correct response if he was rude enough to bother me for an opinion instead of his family, Priest or, Rabbi.

I had a scholarship to Florida A&M to play baseball, but I got into a wreck and went to UGA instead. If my son wanted to go I wouldn't care...as long as he didn't come home acting like something he's not.

As long as it's not Savannah State. A recent study came out saying that a college degree from there was worth less than not going to college at all.
