I think the dynamic no one is talking about is the role Sims has played for years and how much he is loved on this team. The staff cannot simply "anoint" Coker as the starter. Doing so could have a negative impact on team chemistry.

Sim is universally loved. Every player loves the guy. They have to give him every opportunity to win the job - visible so in practice and in the media - so players know he was given a chance.

Ultimately, Coker will be the QB1 by the time Florida game is played (if not sooner) and by the end of the season I think we'll all look back at this thread and laugh at the angst that was expressed over who the QB would be.

(FTR - I like Sims a lot. He could get the job done, but he's not the long-term solution and, therefore, I don't think he'll be the short-term solution either).

I still am not convinced as yall that Coker is the guy. The guy just isn't that accurate from everything we have to go by. He has a strong arm, no doubt, but he misses a lot of easy throws. I'm just not anymore convinced of him than I am of Sims.

The flipside to that argument: if Coker is clearly the better QB as demonstrated in practice after practice and rep after rep and therefore gives the TEAM the best chance to win, wouldn't the players be upset that he's not being given a job he has clearly won? I'm sure they like Sims but they've busted their tales to be able to go out there and win football games and compete for a championship this year. I doubt any of them would want Sims to start if Coker had proven himself to be the better option.
