The only reason people will melt is if he is the starter, has bad performances, and the staff because of loyalty leaves him in there without giving Coker a shot. I was never on the Coker train as many but from what I have seen, Sims has yet to pull himself ahead of Coker, that leaves no doubt he should be the starter. That with a guy that has been here at UA going on his 5th year still can not reach the top to win the job says a lot to me. Especially considering Coker has just started practicing with the team and still has the starting QB job in his sites. Sims may start vs. WVU and maybe see more meaningful playing time this fall because he as stuck it out, but not being able to surge far enough ahead at this point I truly believe Coker will win the job by the UF game. Again I have never been on the Coker hype train, but that loyalty will only last so long.
And FTR I want to see the best QB on the field and will 100% support either one.

The flipside to that argument: if Sims is as bad as many people are convinced that he is, it should've taken no time at all for Coker or Bateman or Morris or anyone really to beat him out for the job. Shouldn't have taken long at all. And while Coker hasn't been with the team that long, he's not exactly coming straight from high school either. He's been a collegiate QB for 3 years just like Sims. He's been versed on college-level film study, reading defenses, calling audibles, sliding protections, ball security, etc... And while he's new to Bama, he spent those 3 years under a Saban protege who is considered a top-rate QB developer.
At any rate, the battle is going to continue into the season. Hopefully at least one of them will shine under the Georgia dome lights and we can move on to discussing something else.
