At every game, home and away, A&M has a group of Sr Cadets that stand on the sidelines as "Officers of the Day". It's an old tradition from way back. It's a really fun thing, I got to do it my Sr year when A&M played Stanford in the Disneyland Kickoff Classic in Anaheim and also got to march in a parade at Disneyworld.

The incident happened in the early 80's when A&M played SMU. One of the SMU male cheerleaders was harassing the OD and then came up and tackled him, knocking his hat off. The guy jumped up and pulled out his sabre in a moment of anger and was quickly subdued. Corps guy ended up getting kicked out of school over it and since it has become an automatic expulsion for any OD to take out their sabre during a game.
