I'm not angry about how others spend their money. I just see it as misdirected in some instances.
Its the same way I feel about Jr. High football teams raiding Academy for pink socks and sweat bands to "support breast cancer awareness". If they really GAF about breast cancer awareness, why not send the $40 you just spent on pink accessories ($4 of which goes to cancer research) directly to the charity?
I'm just pointing out mindless behavior that I view as attention-seeking and misses the point.

Projecting?
My brothers stepson does this every year. He helps build, moves food, and does a lot of things that don't take a lot of skill, but do take a lot of manpower. He does it because it helps him to feel better about himself, I see nothing wrong or "attention seeking" about it.

If you just sit on your butt and write out a check, you're not really involved. And a person who goes once, is more likely to donate multiple times and go back multiple times.
I'm sure some people feel really self-righteous about their good deeds, but they get their reward down here.
