Sr highlights for first 9 games
I had to watch this film twice. My first impression was, he doesn't have the arm strength and balls were floating out there that his WR's would go up an get. Then I started watching him throw 50 yard passes off his back foot. He does have plenty of arm strength for a Sr in HS, but what he has a lot of is touch. He throws very catchable balls. His placement is really good. He's throwing to the outside shoulders and threading defenses. He's very confident in his throws, he makes decisions quickly. One of the things I like the most is how he led defender; lots of pump fakes and footwork in the pocket. His windup isn't the fastest, but that's a mechanical thing that can be fixed during an off sesaon. His vision is also well above Avg for any HS QB. He could see guys getting open quickly. He was very familiar with his WR's routes, he hit many of them in stride for big plays, he must practice with them a lot. He makes throws when he rolls right or left. He's a pocket passer all the way though.
He's thrown 112 TD's the past 2 years. It's no wonder he won Mr Football this year.
If for some reason McIlwain goes MLB Pro, he would be an option this class. I might think we should offer him anyways. Right now we have Mitch, Scar, Nunez and Orth all on scholarship, and one of them might transfer before fall camp when they see McIlwain practice/play. McIlwain in the future of the program, but this Scott guy is pretty good.

Bentley also went to see 3* WR Chavis Dawkins, here's what he had to say:
quote:
“(Bentley) was telling me how they are going to get a whole new coaching staff and how they are going to rebuild South Carolina and do some things different," Dawkins said. “I am just excited to see what coaches they bring in."
"They talked to me a little bit about an offer," he said.

Top 5 WR, 4* Sam Bruce of south FL, is now thinking of OV'ing to SC Jan 15th. Thanks TRob!

He should be offered regardless. Look at Mason Rudolph at Okie State.
There are a lot of positives that come from offering a local kid to come and play for you. Worst-case scenario, he uses a scholly and transfers to North Greenville or something after a year.
