When it comes to AU fans, usually they have some sort of connection to the school (either they or family attended).
All fan bases have some nut cases, but IMO, this is why bama has more of them.

To further the rationale, just by percentages you are more likely to be trailer trash if you were a Bama fan than if you were an Auburn fan.
Also, since you pick up attributes from those you surround yourself by, you are more likely to become trashy if you are an Alabama fan
