Heard of a story sorta like that. An elder lady had cut her leg and screw around and let it get infected.
By the time she finally went to the doctor gangrene
had set in.

So the doctor told her the only way to save her life would be to amputate her leg at the hip. She
goes into surgery to get it cut off, and the surgeon screws up and cuts the good leg off. He then still has to cut off the bad leg to save her life.

The lady survives and goes to court to sue the surgeon. The judge reviews the case and throws it out, saying she didn't have a leg to stand on.
